Mateya Safari Lodge under new management: the two long-time employees Christine and Werner Dippenaar are the new Lodge Managers. Christine previously worked in the lodge for all administrative work in the front and back office, Werner is one of the best safari guides. The pair succeed Philip Hattingh, who now works full time for the anti poaching and rhino protection program at the Madikwe Game Reserve. The “Rhino Notching” project is being financially supported by the Mateya owner.
The lodge will be closed for upcoming renovation works from June-July 2020. Primarily the thatched roofs are newly covered and the decks are newly polished and oiled as well as smaller maintenance measures in the entire lodge area.
