One of the most original and exciting camps in Africa, the newly rebuilt Jack’s Camp continues to keep up its tradition to surprise and delight. Here we go on a Kalahari desert expedition in a world of style. Over-flowing with the same enduring old-world glamour Jack’s is adored for; desert culture, adventure and the unconventional takes on a life of its own. Now with more space, unfathomable comfort for desert life, luxury fit for a maharaja and adventure beyond the absurd, the new Jack’s Camp will leave you awestruck. This is where new is old and the old is new. Adorned with a classic East African safari feel, yet maintaining the much-loved 1940s campaign style, five generations of the Bousfield family have collected antiques and artifacts from around the world, each one telling a story and adding to Jack’s distinctive design character.
Part of the new rebuild includes the new, now larger mess tent with library, Natural History Museum, vintage 36-seater dining table, well-stocked drinks chest and antique pool table. All threaded together in a rich tapestry of Persian and North African rugs, paraffin lamps, brass fittings, luxuriant textiles and mahogany campaign furniture.
A pioneer in the art of desert design, each tent, with private deck and pool, has been intentionally shifted in orientation to work in synergy with the sun and cooling breeze. Now an impressive 270 sqm under canvas. The shade and constant air flow create glorious respite from the Kalahari heat. But the true luxury at Jack’s is switching-off to enjoy the company of the desert silence. Find solace in the Persian tea tent, or swimming pool pavilion, grab a book or a delicious sweet treat to fully relax and unwind.
Jack’s Camp is where real adventure thrills. Think habituated meerkat, guided walks and game drives, quad biking, hunting for stone tools in the crusty salt flats or seeing the world through the eyes of the San Bushmen. In this living desert, years of knowledge and experience allow the story of the Makgadikgadi to unfold.
The new Jack’s Camp brings unimaginable style, in a world of Kalahari adventure… it truly is something extraordinary to behold, an African safari icon.
